4.54 billion years
Earth and life
The Earth formed 4.54 billion years ago. It was a ball of molten rock, then a world of lifeless oceans, later a ball of ice and, for the last 539 million years, a planet full of animals and plants.
This collection follows that story from beginning to end: the collision that made the Moon, the first life, oxygen, the ice ages, the dinosaurs and the asteroid that ended their reign.
